Our Story
Built Around One Straightforward Idea
Most adults have years of financial history but no structured way to read it. Quarterspan exists to change that — one workshop at a time.

Quarterspan — The Name and the Idea
Quarterspan was founded in Kuala Lumpur in 2019 by a small group of adult educators and personal finance practitioners who kept noticing the same gap: the adults who most needed to understand their household finances were rarely the ones served by conventional financial planning firms.
The name refers to a quarter of a century — the 25 or so years between a family's most active earning period and the point where those financial choices start to settle. For most households in Malaysia, that window is the critical one. It is also the window where spending habits are hardest to examine, because life is full and the pressure to simply get on with things is constant.
Our workshops don't try to do everything. We focus on one piece that most approaches skip: helping adults see their current household cash flow in writing, without shame and without a product attached to the conversation.
Since opening, we have run programmes for more than 400 participants across our three formats. Sessions take place at our training space in Menara Hap Seng 2, near the Masjid Jamek LRT interchange. All materials are printed — because paper stays on the kitchen table in a way that a browser tab does not.
Our Mission
To give mid-life adults in Malaysia a structured, judgement-free way to understand and organise their household spending — using printed workbooks, small group facilitation, and follow-up sessions that make the learning stick.
Our Approach
We run sessions in small groups of up to twelve, using paper workbooks and structured facilitation. We do not sell financial products or give investment advice. Every element of the session is built around the participant's own household numbers.
Where We Work
All sessions are held at our space on Level 14, Menara Hap Seng 2, Plaza Hap Seng, 50050 Kuala Lumpur — a central, accessible location that our participants can reach easily from across the Klang Valley.
The People Behind the Sessions
Our Team
Quarterspan is run by facilitators who understand both adult learning and household financial realities in a Malaysian context.

How We Work
Our Standards and Commitments
These are the principles we hold ourselves to across every session, every participant group, and every set of printed materials we hand out.
Participant Privacy
Financial information shared during workshops stays in the room. Workbooks belong to the participant. We do not collect or store individual spending data outside of session registration details.
No Product Recommendations
Facilitators do not recommend financial products, insurance plans, or investment accounts. The session content is neutral. Our revenue comes solely from programme fees.
Reviewed Curriculum
Workbooks and session content are reviewed and updated at least once a year. Facilitators complete a structured refresher before each programme cycle to ensure consistency.
Group Size Limits
We cap group sizes at twelve participants per cohort. This is not a marketing claim — it is a structural limit enforced at enrolment to maintain the quality of facilitation.
Bilingual Capacity
Programmes can be delivered in English, Bahasa Malaysia, or a mix of both. Language preference is confirmed at enrolment so the right facilitator is assigned.
Follow-Up Included
The Honest Month workshop and the Household Operating Manual both include structured follow-up sessions after the main programme ends. These are built into the programme fee, not offered as extras.
About Our Work
Household Budgeting as a Learnable Skill
There is a difference between knowing that household spending should be managed and actually sitting down with a month's worth of transactions and seeing where the money went. Most adults in Malaysia have access to bank statements, credit card summaries, and e-wallet histories — but no structured way to read that data as a household picture.
Quarterspan's workshops are built on the observation that this is a learnable skill, not a personality trait. Adults who work through a structured classification exercise — separating fixed commitments from variable spending, identifying recurring small costs that add up over a quarter — consistently report that the process feels different from generic budgeting advice. The difference is that they are working with their own numbers, on paper, in a small group where there is time to ask questions.
Our three programmes address different points in that learning process. The Honest Month workshop is a starting point — one weekend, one month of data, and a workbook to take home. The Couples Cash-Flow Conversations programme addresses the relational side of household money management, which is often where the real complexity sits. The Household Operating Manual is a longer commitment that produces a document the entire household can refer to.
All of our content is developed in-house and adapted for the Malaysian context — household structures, cost-of-living patterns in the Klang Valley, and the specific categories where mid-life adults tend to see unexpected growth in spending. We do not use imported templates or repackaged foreign curricula.
